Humanity Protocol
Hong Kong
Overview
Humanity Protocol is a decentralized identity project that verifies users using palm scans. The protocol aims to rival Sam Altman's Worldcoin, which uses iris scans. Humanity plans to develop a Proof of Humanity consensus mechanism and integrate it into leading Web3 platforms. The project closed a $20 million funding round that lifted its valuation to $1.1 billion. It previously raised $30 million at a $1 billion valuation in May 2024. The new capital is intended to accelerate development of the consensus mechanism and platform integrations. Humanity Protocol is a zero-knowledge decentralized identity project that verifies user uniqueness using palm scans and a consensus mechanism called Proof of Humanity. The protocol aims to compete with Worldcoin, which uses iris scans, and positions its approach as less invasive. The team says the $30 million seed financing values the company at $1 billion and will fund hiring and product development. Humanity Protocol previously received about $1.5 million from angel investors and key opinion leaders in early March. A public testnet launch is planned for the second half of the year. The project emphasizes protecting user privacy and self-ownership of data while solving verifiable uniqueness.
