Hummingbird Technologies is a London-founded (2016) remote-sensing agtech company that combines drones, satellite imagery and machine learning to deliver high-resolution field maps and decision-support for cereal, canola, potato, sugarcane, corn, pea, soybean and lettuce growers. The company says its platform delivers a consistent input-optimization uplift of 10–20%, depending on geography and product. Hummingbird operates in large farms across Russia, Ukraine, China, the US, Canada, Brazil and the UK and counts clients such as Continental Farmers Group, John Deere, Velcourt and PepsiCo. It plans expansion into parts of the US and Canada (a rollout targeting about 1 million acres in Canada and the US across 2020–2021) and is hiring to grow its roughly 40-strong London team. The business will use the Series B proceeds to augment its position in core international markets and to invest in API software integration and machine-learning improvements at both team and code level.
