Overview
Founded in 2024 by Tapish Agarwal and Ugandhar Reddy, Bengaluru-based Hycosys is building hydrogen-ready, fuel-flexible micro gas turbines (MGTs) engineered from first principles. Its technology stack includes a hydrogen-optimised combustor, a 3D-printed heat-recovery unit and an advanced turbine design currently being tested at IIT-BHU, resulting in systems that are up to 30 % lighter and more efficient than conventional alternatives. The company targets India’s vast 227 GW diesel-generator market with plans to demonstrate a working clean-energy replacement by mid-2027. Future product integrations include microgrids, heavy commercial vehicle range extenders and propulsion units for large drones and fixed-wing aircraft. Hycosys is supported by several government, VC and CSR programmes and aligns its roadmap with India’s goal of sourcing 50 % of energy from non-fossil fuels by 2030. To date, it has secured a little over $1 million in external funding, which will be channelled into expanding the engineering team and accessing advanced testing facilities.
