27-43 Wormwood Street Suite #650, Boston, Massachusetts, 02210, United States

Overview

HYCU provides a multi-cloud data protection as a service platform that delivers SaaS-based data backup and recovery for both on-premises and cloud-native environments. The company offers data protection, migration, disaster recovery, and ransomware protection to thousands of companies worldwide. Led by CEO Simon Taylor, HYCU intends to use newly raised funds to expand its business reach. The firm has raised $140M in VC funding to date. Its core product focuses on bringing enterprise-grade backup and recovery capabilities across multi-cloud and on-prem deployments. The company recently secured strategic investment as part of a Series B extension. HYCU (Hybrid Cloud Up Time) provides software to protect data across multicloud and hybrid cloud environments. Its product suite includes largely self-serve offerings for cloud migration, security credential management, disaster recovery, and backup and recovery. The company reports more than 3,100 customers, including U.S. state and local agencies, the U.S. Department of Defense and multiple branches of the U.S. military, and has a roughly 300-person team. HYCU recently added support for AWS GovCloud to address regulated public-sector workloads. The company plans to use new capital to expand customer-success and partnership functions and to develop new products and services, including a software-as-a-service offering. To date HYCU has raised $140 million. HYCU provides multi-cloud backup and recovery services with agent-less integrations across Nutanix, VMware, Google Cloud, Azure and AWS, targeting mid-market and enterprise customers. The company also offers a data migration tool, HYCU Protégé, and emphasizes simplicity akin to consumer backup experiences. It has grown organically since its 2018 founding and now serves more than 2,000 customers in 75 countries. HYCU plans to use new funding to further build out its platform, expand into more markets, and hire about 100 additional employees. Leadership says it will remain focused on backup and recovery rather than expanding immediately into broader security or adjacent product areas. CEO and founder Simon Taylor positions the product to reduce the need for professional services through platform integrations that enable rapid deployment and harder targets for criminals.
