Hypertec is one of the world’s principal manufacturers of high-performance servers, devices used by data centers—especially those focused on AI. The company is pursuing a renewed push into data centers through its subsidiary Groupe 5C, which currently operates four centers in the United States and plans additional sites, notably in Europe. Hypertec is building a new Montreal factory that will be able to assemble 600,000 servers per year. The family behind Hypertec has prior experience building and selling data centers, including a sale to Bell in 2010 and two centers sold to Vantage in 2020 that generated substantial proceeds. David Baazov is a major, discreet shareholder (holding 40% since 2019) who has worked closely with the Ahdoot family and helped connect the company with capital and partners. Most recently Groupe 5C secured significant financing to support its AI-focused data center ambitions.
