Overview

Hystrix operates a digital marketplace for repeatedly purchased medical goods that also functions as a real-time information hub for large sections of the healthcare industry. More than 170 Swiss healthcare providers use the hystrix marketplace, including over 120 hospitals. The platform enables procurement without supplier visits and paperwork, and offers real-time price comparisons, availability information locally and abroad, and daily updated overviews of supply and demand. The company is developing ERP integrations and additional strategic marketplace functionalities. Hystrix plans to expand its user base and product portfolios and to internationalise the Swiss-developed business model. To date the company has raised CHF 5.56 million including a recent CHF 3 million Series A and received a Horizon 2020 grant for a European feasibility study. Hystrix operates an online B2B marketplace for medical products, aiming to bring B2C-like simplicity, user-friendliness and transparency to Swiss healthcare procurement. The company has grown from pilot testing with six pioneer hospitals to more than 30 hospital partners, offering around 75,000 products across 580+ brands and 40 supplier companies. Hystrix is developing its marketplace software from an existing minimum viable product into a faster, more transparent and user-friendly platform, with ongoing UI/UX testing. The team intends to deliver an upgraded software solution in time for the main hospital buying season in Q4 and is exploring international expansion opportunities. Financially, the startup has completed seed and pre-Series A financing rounds and also received EU grant funding. The company emphasizes helping suppliers reduce distribution costs and offering hospitals an efficient one-stop-shop for consumables procurement.
