I Had Cancer

228 Park Ave S PMB 19860, New York, 10003, United States

Overview

I Had Cancer is a community-focused social network that lets members create profiles, tell their cancer stories, and identify the type of cancer they battled. The site includes searchable filters (location, cancer type, year diagnosed, age, gender), public discussion boards with Q&A, and private mutual "Circle" connections for sharing more personal updates. The product evolved from a survivor blog concept into a full-fledged support site developed by a team out of Squeaky Wheel Media in New York City. Founders include Mailet Lopez (a breast cancer survivor), Robert Boyle, and Anthony Del Monte. The site launched in private beta (250 invites were distributed, with code C55484) and will notify signups when the public launch occurs. Financially, the startup has raised $750,000 in an angel round.
