Ictero Medical is developing the first catheter-based cryoablation system to treat high-risk patients with gallstone disease. The technology leverages existing interventional techniques to deliver cryoablation therapy that defunctionalizes the gallbladder without surgical removal. The company is targeting inoperable or critically ill patients who lack good treatment options and may also benefit healthier patients seeking to avoid surgery. Ictero has launched a partnership with Biotex to access engineering resources, in-house manufacturing, and capital support to accelerate product development. Prior funding includes a Phase I NSF grant and a $1M seed round co-led by the Texas Medical Center Venture Fund and Texas HALO Fund. The recent financing will support continued product development and completion of initial clinical testing toward regulatory clearance.
