Ideal Flatmate is a London-based platform that uses a Cambridge-collaborated algorithm and a 20-question survey to match prospective flat-sharers by personality rather than just location or budget. The site launched in January and has reached an average of 25,000 monthly users, more than 15,000 registered flathunters and over 2,000 property listings. The founders started the company in 2015 after experiencing difficulties finding compatible flatmates via existing listing sites. The additional funding will be used to accelerate the business plan, fast-track recruitment of key hires, significantly grow user numbers and continue product development. The team is fine-tuning the algorithm based on initial testing to deliver greater value for users and aims to hit 150,000 users by the end of 2018. Financially, the company has taken investment to date and is positioning to scale operations with the new capital.
