Igloo Energy combines smart-meter data with property, environmental, occupant and behavioural information to deliver personalised advice on reducing energy use, all tied to one transparent variable gas and electricity tariff. Customers can switch in about two minutes, and the company promises they will "use less and pay less." In just 18 months the startup attracted more than 26,000 customers and generated annual revenues exceeding €39 million. Management reports customer growth of over 30% during its Seedrs campaign. Igloo plans to use fresh capital to advance its smart-home technology and expand related customer services. The firm also secured €1.1 million in R&D funding from the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Innovate UK in August 2018, supporting ongoing product development.
