Ignis Careers is a Hyderabad-based social enterprise that provides capacity-building programmes for teachers in government and affordable private schools and has developed a digital platform to deliver its Life Skills training programme. The curriculum integrates customised content, interactive technology and English-language learning aimed at first-generation learners from low-income communities to improve classroom delivery and future employability. The organization is currently present in nine centres across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Delhi, and its curriculum has been adopted by more than 200 schools. To date it has benefited nearly 57,000 students through capacity building of 1,788 teachers. Ignis runs a Rural Teacher Fellowship in partnership with Acumen and HDFC Bank to recruit and train local teachers in English and best-in-class teaching practices. Following a $150,000 investment from Gray Matters Capital’s edLABS to digitize teacher manuals, Ignis plans to expand to 16 more centres by FY2021.
