Iiwari develops an ultra-wide band (UWB) indoor positioning system based on research from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The company purchased key licenses from VTT to commercialise the technology and become its global operator. Founded in 2018 and based in Kajaani, Iiwari says its UWB solution is more accurate and more affordable than WiFi and Bluetooth alternatives. Founder and CEO Ville Kolehmainen says the company is going to market with a state-of-the-art, reliable UWB indoor positioning system and great platform partners. Iiwari targets applications across security, healthcare, retail, logistics and mining. The startup has raised a €1.5 million seed round from Nordic deep-tech VC Voima Ventures and angel investors from the UK and US.
