Overview

IIX Inc. is a Santa Clara, CA-based global software-defined interconnection company led by founder and CEO Al Burgio. The company recently launched Console, a fully automated enterprise software platform that introduces the concept of Interconnection 2.0. Console enables companies to bypass the public Internet and directly connect to a global ecosystem of cloud infrastructure providers, SaaS providers and other business-critical partners. Its Console interface resembles a social networking platform to enable business-to-business collaboration and direct connections. IIX will use the $26M in Series B funding to grow its team, expand its customer base in North America and EMEA, and accelerate expansion throughout the APAC region. In conjunction with the funding, Jim Kim joined IIX’s board of directors. IIX provides a platform that enables programmable interconnection between networks, allowing content providers, data center providers, ISPs, carriers and other enterprises to gain control, improve security and reduce IP transit costs. The platform is positioned to optimize network performance and extend network reach globally. Led by founder and CEO Al Burgio, the company said it will use new capital to expand its global ecosystem. IIX raised $20M in funding in a transaction with TriplePoint Capital. The company also acquired global interconnection provider IX Reach to extend its presence across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. That acquisition increased IIX's total network points of presence (PoPs) to more than 150; the financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. IIX is a next-generation software and interconnection platform designed for enterprises, content providers, cloud providers and other network operators. The company offers interconnection and network software to facilitate connectivity across customers and network operators. Founded in 2011 by Al Burgio, IIX is based in Niagara and also maintains an office in Silicon Valley. IIX was an early client of Innovate Niagara and an initial tenant of the Generator incubator, which provided mentorship and regional support. Prior financings include a $450,000 investment through the Niagara Angel Network in 2012 (with Golden Triangle Angel participation) and a $1.25 million round from Dot Capital in February 2013. The company recently secured $10.4 million in venture capital to support its growth.
