Overview
IKIN is a San Diego-based company focused on building high-quality, affordable holographic ecosystems. The company announced RYZ, a new Holographic Augmented Reality (HAR) platform that uses a visual environment technology called “photon mapping,” and is slated for introduction next year. RYZ is described as enabling the mapping of volumetric holographic projections over carefully analyzed environments and will allow users and developers to manipulate personal environments in novel ways. The platform is said to generate vivid, free-standing volumetric holograms with lifelike sharpness from a user’s smartphone, which can be recorded and replayed, and to convert 2D images into 3D holograms. IKIN also reported it raised more than $5 million in private funding. The company appointed Chuck Oakley as VP of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management; Oakley brings more than 20 years of experience and was most recently VP of Customer Service at Mitel.
