Immunio offers a runtime application self-protection (RASP) platform that provides real-time web application security. Its agent is inserted into applications to flag vulnerabilities, block attacks instantly, and give developers and IT operations teams details on where a vulnerability occurred and how it was blocked. The company is generally available and offers a free trial at www.immun.io. Immunio said it will use the proceeds from its latest financing to accelerate growth. The company raised $5M in a Series A led by White Star Capital, bringing total funding to date to $8.3M. Leadership includes CEO and cofounder Zaid Al Hamami, with Goran Begic as vice president of product and Richard April as chief marketing officer. Immunio is a Montreal-based web security startup focused on protecting web applications from exploitation. Its core product is an add-on tool that the company says can stop SQL injection, cross-site scripting, remote command execution and about a dozen other types of attacks. Immunio emerged from stealth with a claim that the tool can render web applications immune in under two minutes. The product currently supports Ruby on Rails and a variety of Python web frameworks, with Java support in alpha. The company plans to add support for more platforms in 2015. Immunio raised $2.7M in seed funding from several venture investors. The company was founded by CEO Zaid Al Hamami and engineer Mike Milner.
