Founded in 2012, Impetux Optics develops instrumentación fotónica avanzada for the life sciences, with products including Sensocell® optical tweezers and a novel confocal microscopy architecture. Its core innovation uses acousto-optic devices (AODs) to create a fully solid-state, programmable confocal microscope that removes traditional mechanical components. The AOD-based architecture enables high-speed imaging with reduced phototoxicity, greater robustness, and adaptability to varied experimental conditions. With the new financing, the company will industrialize and commercially launch its confocal system, scale production and sales of Sensocell®, and develop an integrated Sensocell®-confocal version as well as a standalone high-performance confocal unit. Impetux will also strengthen its team, industrial capabilities and go-to-market strategy to pursue global opportunities in cell biology, drug discovery and quantitative analysis. The company’s origins lie in research from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Barcelona and it combines that scientific expertise with product development and scientific instrumentation commercialization experience.
