In Hand Guides develops hand-held embedded audio players that deliver up to four hours of personalized, multilingual content to customers in Tourism, Health & Lifestyle and Public Advocacy sectors. The company’s technology is based on three years of R&D carried out at the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology as part of a five-year research programme. Led by CEO Trevor Winckworth, In Hand Guides has delivered interpretive souvenir audio products to Irish attractions including the Old Library and Book of Kells Exhibition, Glasnevin Cemetery, Botanic Gardens Dublin, Christchurch Cathedral Dublin, Joyce Centre Dublin and Kilkenny Castle. The company serves Health Services and Public Advocacy organisations in addition to tourism clients. It plans to use the newest funding to increase R&D spending and broaden its product portfolio. In Hand Guides intends to expand into the UK tourism and heritage market.
