Inception is a Palo Alto–based artificial intelligence company focused on building diffusion large language models (dLLMs). Its flagship model, Mercury, is currently the only commercially available dLLM and delivers 5–10× faster inference than speed-optimized models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google while maintaining comparable accuracy. The technology’s low-latency performance makes it well-suited for use cases such as interactive voice agents, live code generation, and dynamic user interfaces. Mercury’s efficiency also reduces GPU requirements, enabling enterprises to deploy larger models at the same cost or serve more users on existing infrastructure. With the new capital, the company plans to expand its research and engineering teams, accelerate product development, and deepen work on diffusion systems that support real-time text, voice, and coding workloads.
