Overview
Incident.io offers an all-in-one, AI-based incident management and response platform that helps IT and infrastructure teams move quickly when systems fail. It initially built its primary UI inside Slack, later adding Microsoft Teams support and a proprietary dashboard that provides fuller tracking and resolution workflows alongside chat integrations. The company has recently woven AI through the platform, including an AI copilot that transcribes incident calls, generates action items, and queries services like Datadog, with plans to extend into remediation and security integrations in the future. Incident.io targets larger organizations—its sweet spot is teams with more than 200 users—and counts customers such as Netflix, Linear, Ramp, and Etsy. Since its 2021 founding the startup says it has powered responses and alerts for some 250,000 incidents, has tripled its customer base in the last 12 months, and roughly three-quarters of new customers are in the U.S. Financially, the company has raised just over $96M to date and plans to use the new capital for hiring and sales and marketing across London and San Francisco. Incident.io operates a Slack-native incident management platform that announces incidents in channels, triggers workflows, assigns roles, and integrates with external tools such as PagerDuty, Zoom and Jira. The product captures channel timelines, pins important changes, and auto-generates annotated post-mortems that can be exported to Jira as follow-up actions. The founders built the product from open-source tooling developed at Monzo and founded the company to reduce manual coordination and duplicated engineering effort. The startup targets organizations of more than ~200 people, particularly regulated fintechs, high-uptime ecommerce businesses, and complex operational domains like food delivery and logistics. Incident.io counts over 150 brands as customers and currently has 29 employees, with plans to grow to about 50 by 2023. Management says the company will use the new capital to expand internationally and accelerate the product roadmap. Incident.io integrates deeply with Slack to let teams create and manage incidents from the chat interface, including a /incident shortcut and automatic creation of a dated incident channel. Within those channels users can assign owners, add summaries, escalate issues and discuss the problem so information remains centralized. Customers also get an Incident.io dashboard with a list of incidents; each incident has its own page showing participants and a timeline of events. The timeline can automatically include related artifacts such as GitHub pull requests, and the recorded information can be used to generate post-mortems for teams or customers. The product is positioned to help companies handle issues more gracefully and improve transparency for both team members and customers. The article reports that the company has raised funding (see deal details) to support its development and growth.
