Overview

InDex Pharmaceuticals develops DNA-based immunomodulatory sequences (DIMS) targeting innate immune receptors for inflammatory diseases. Its lead candidate, Kappaproct®, is a DIMS that targets toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and is being developed for severe ulcerative colitis. The company is led by CEO Jesper Wiklund and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. InDex expects to report data from a Phase III study of Kappaproct in summer 2014. Financially, the company closed a $20M funding round in 2014 led by NeoMed Management. Earlier financing includes a $7M Series A in 2011. InDex Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Stockholm, Sweden, developing Kappaproct® for severe inflammatory bowel disease. The company received a SEK75m equity investment to finance the final development stage of Kappaproct. Management intends to use the proceeds to run a planned phase III trial treating severe ulcerative colitis patients who have failed other medical treatments. Market launch of Kappaproct is expected within a couple of years after the final development stage. InDex also operates a diagnostics business: the DiBiCol® test was launched in Sweden in 2009 and resources will be used to expand sales activities in that operation. The company originated from research at the Karolinska Institutet in Solna and is led by CEO Svante Rasmuson.
