Indigo
Unit 3B Sopwith Crescent Wickford Business Park, Basildon, Essex, SS11 8YU, United Kingdom
Overview
Indigo launched in 2014 to help farmers improve crop health and productivity using microbial products that protect against environmental, disease and pest stress. The company has expanded its offerings into digital tools and recently launched Indigo Marketplace, an online grain marketplace. On the marketplace, buyers can filter by protein content, milling quality or production practices, while growers are paid based on third‑party lab‑verified crop quality; Indigo manages testing, transportation and payment. Indigo expects about $500 million in bookings this year, representing more than 8x year‑over‑year growth, and reports more than $6 billion of grain listed with buyers placing over 4,000 bids worth $2 billion. The company has raised significant venture capital and is described as the most valuable private agtech startup. CEO David Perry says the marketplace has seen the most rapid adoption of any product launch in his career.
