InferCabulary builds a visual-vocabulary app that requires students to infer word meanings from images and context, applying critical thinking. The company offers its technology on a SaaS model and says about 150 schools and districts have signed on. A recently launched beta lets teachers paste text and automatically creates games based on words in the system. Founded by speech-language pathologists Beth Lawrence (CEO) and Deena Seifert, the company operates out of the Towson University Incubator. InferCabulary plans to use new capital to expand the app and hire inside sales, customer success, and account management. The company recently won a pitch competition at the LearnLaunch conference and is focused on distribution partnerships as it scales.
