Infocyte offers a forensics-based threat hunting platform that discovers post-compromise activity of cyber attackers and malware that have bypassed other defenses. The platform is designed to reduce attacker dwell time and enable organizations and independent assessors to defend networks and critical information. Led by CEO Curtis Hutcheson and founder/Chief Product Officer Chris Gerritz, the company emphasizes forensic analysis and threat hunting. Infocyte intends to use new funding to scale its business reach and to support its network of partners. The company closed a $5.2M Series B that brings total investment to $8.6M, indicating prior outside investment. Infocyte provides a platform that enables enterprise security and IT professionals to find malware and advanced persistent threats (APTs) on networked devices, including physical and virtual workstations and servers. Led by founder Chris Gerritz and based in San Antonio, Texas, the company focuses on reducing the breach detection gap to deny attackers persistence and restore trust in network health. In October 2017 Infocyte raised $3.4m in a Series A funding round. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations. In conjunction with the funding, Nicolas Hollis and Venu Shamapant joined Infocyte’s board of directors. The platform targets faster breach discovery and remediation for enterprise environments. Infocyte develops Pulse, an on‑premises appliance that scans workstations and servers to find indications of compromise, unauthorized activity, and malicious code. Unlike vulnerability scanners, Pulse focuses on discovering attackers who have already breached a network and identifying post-intrusion activity and insider threats. The company has been performing assessments for financial institutions with an earlier version of the platform since August. Infocyte plans a product launch in Q1 2015 and intends to license Pulse to enterprise customers and security service providers. To accelerate development and expand its team ahead of launch, Infocyte secured additional seed funding. The team draws on domain experience from national defense, which the company cites as part of its technical pedigree.
