Overview

iSpot.tv builds real-time TV advertising measurement tools and audience data used across broadcast and streaming platforms. Its measurement products have been piloted by NBCUniversal (including for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Super Bowl LVI) and by WarnerMedia and Paramount for major programming. The company has expanded via acquisitions such as Tunity, DRMetrix and Ace Metrix to broaden its capabilities. iSpot reported surpassing $100 million in annual recurring revenue and employs more than 350 people. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, it also maintains offices in New York City, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv. Leadership says the company will use the new funding to invest in product development, engineering, sales and marketing, accelerate hiring, and aims to go public within the next couple of years. iSpot.tv is a TV ad measurement company that provides real-time advertising analytics to hundreds of brands. Its proprietary platform offers a complete view of TV advertising activity across national, local, and OTT services, allowing brands to measure attention to creative and connect ad exposures to business outcomes. The platform enhances data from more than 9 million smart TV devices and can be integrated into first- or third-party DMPs for brands, networks, and agencies. TV networks such as those operated by NBCUniversal use partnership integrations with iSpot to offer validated business outcome measurement to customers. Led by founder and CEO Sean Muller, the company is based in Bellevue and New York City and has a staff of 154 people. The company raised $30M in a Series C and has $57.8M in total funding; it intends to use the capital to continue product innovations and expand customer success and sales operations. iSpot.tv provides real-time measurement of national TV advertising and links TV airings to digital responses on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and search. The company maintains an online library of more than 100,000 ads. Brands and ad agencies use iSpot.tv alongside other analytics and attribution products for competitive intelligence, ad effectiveness and media planning in real time. Founder and CEO Sean Muller says the company focuses on real-time TV advertising data and digital performance data that others cannot provide. The product is positioned for clients needing immediate insight into TV-to-digital impact. Financially, the company has now raised more than $27.5 million in total funding. iSpot.tv provides real-time monitoring and analytics for television advertising campaigns. Its core product uses proprietary audio and video fingerprinting to track ads across more than 80 U.S. networks and ingests those matches into a dashboard for brands, agencies, and networks. The dashboard surfaces campaign details (including agencies and actors), frequency and placement by network and show, and estimates ad spend by comparing appearances against ratings and average cost. iSpot.tv serves more than 40 customers who pay between $1,000 and tens of thousands of dollars per month, and the company is already generating revenue. The company is based in Bellevue, Wash., has about 15 employees, and plans to expand rapidly, including opening a New York City sales office to be closer to the ad industry. Founder Sean Muller led an earlier $575,000 raise last summer to build out the technology and catalog ads for a consumer-facing site. iSpot.tv automatically catalogs TV commercials, trailers, and promos using proprietary audio and video fingerprinting and tracks those ads across broadcast and cable networks. The company claims to have identified more than 13,200 distinct commercials that have aired over 1.8 million times. Beyond serving as a repository, iSpot.tv sells data and partners with brands and agencies to add metadata and measure ad effectiveness. It also offers a second-screen marketing platform that ties TV hashtags to Twitter activity, enabling advertisers to deliver coupons or redemption links to users who tweet specific hashtags. The platform recognizes hashtagged tweets and replies with mobile-optimized links, and uses airing-tracking to show when ads are most effective at driving awareness. iSpot.tv was founded by former Demand Media executives, with co-founder and CEO Sean Muller leading the venture.
