Italist operates a virtual mall that aggregates independent Italian luxury boutiques and lets retailers control their listings, photos, and inventory. The platform encourages boutiques to include detailed product information and brand stories to mimic the in-person experience of walking Milan's streets. Since its beta launch in January of last year, Italist has onboarded over 70 boutiques and 20 brands, with about 200 retailers waiting to be added. The company reports a $1 million revenue run rate. Founder Raffaele Giovine, a former Bain consultant and entrepreneur who previously exited Zero9, aims to build a $1 billion business within the $21 billion Italian luxury fashion market. Italist has received $500K of funding from 500 Startups and angel investors to support platform expansion and retailer recruitment.
