Iterion Therapeutics is a venture-backed, clinical-stage biotech developing Tegavivint, a potent and selective inhibitor of nuclear beta-catenin that binds TBL1. Tegavivint is in a Phase 1/2a clinical trial for desmoid tumors and has received Orphan Drug Designation for that indication. Iterion plans to initiate clinical programs in 2021 for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and pediatric cancers including sarcomas and lymphoma. The company says Tegavivint silences Wnt-pathway gene expression via a downstream target (TBL1), potentially avoiding toxicity seen with prior approaches to this pathway. Iterion is venture-backed and reported securing a $17 million Series B to advance Tegavivint development; it is also the recipient of up to $15.9 million from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
