Ittinsect develops highly nutritious proteins extracted from insects and agricultural by-products to serve as sustainable alternatives to conventional aquaculture feed. The company aims to make insect-derived ingredients commercially accessible for use in trout, sturgeon and saltwater species such as sea bass and sea bream, with plans to introduce functional ingredients for salmon and tilapia. By the end of 2023 Ittinsect produced and delivered 1,500 tonnes of sustainable, nutrient-dense feed. The startup operates three research laboratories, has a patent-pending process, and has forged strategic partnerships in the production sector. Ittinsect was accelerated by ZERO (the Cleantech accelerator of the CDP National Network) and positions itself to reduce aquaculture dependence on marine resources and move toward zero-impact aquaculture.
