Iunika develops chips, software and systems for the mobile computing sector, including tablets, e-books, netbooks and notebooks. Its offerings include the iEduka software suite and Parental Border hack-proof security technology aimed at education customers. The company uses a Linux-based free software stack and environmentally friendly technologies such as biodegradable plastic casings and solar-powered mobile computers. Iunika plans to use the Series A proceeds to enter the North American market, first targeting the education market and then expanding distribution to general consumers in the USA and Canada. The firm is ramping up a US headquarters with completion expected within 90 days and is recruiting technical staff to establish channel and technical support presence. The financing completed was a $46m Series A venture round.
