J&B Recycling operates waste collection, recovery and recycling services from two recycling facilities in Hartlepool and a waste transfer station in Middlesbrough. Run by founder Vikki Jackson-Smith, who established the business in 2000, the company serves local authorities, housing authorities, commercial and industrial customers and other waste companies. It has an annual turnover of c. £10m and employs 175 people. The company received a £7.5m investment from Business Growth Fund. The funds will be used to develop an additional recycling facility in Middlesbrough for treating commercial waste and to support further expansion at existing facilities where household waste is treated. Operations are focused on serving organisations throughout the North East.
