Jaka Robotics makes collaborative robot arms (cobots) that work alongside humans to perform tasks ranging from assembling electronic parts and packaging smartphones to pouring coffee and other repetitive jobs. Its cobots are deployed across industries and the company counts Toyota and Schneider as close partners co-developing large-scale applications. Jaka plans to spend new funding on R&D and global expansion, with a focus on growing overseas business. Overseas operations currently account for a “material portion” of Jaka’s revenues and are expected to reach a 50% share in the long term; management described the company’s growth as “very impressive,” though detailed financials were not disclosed. The robots can also handle heavier industrial tasks useful to energy firms, such as manual rock-core handling in oil drilling. Jaka is based in Shanghai and Beijing and was founded in 2014.
