Jalo

Calle 97, 23-60, Bogotá, Bogotá, Colombia

Overview

Jalo develops negative-emissions energy assets using bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), combining local biomass conversion, long-term commercial offtake and permanent biogenic CO₂ storage. Its first project in Almelo is designed to produce approximately 125,000 tonnes of sustainable EN plus-grade pellets per year and capture around 56,000 tonnes of biogenic CO₂ annually. The Almelo plant is structured as a replicable industrial module intended to prove the technical, commercial and regulatory model before follow-on projects in other Dutch provinces and selected European regions. Financially, the Almelo project requires roughly €52.5 million in capital, with a planned financing mix of €20 million equity plus vendor financing, senior debt and public-sector support; the project is expected to benefit from 12–15 years of Dutch SDE++ support. Jalo is developing ISO 9001 and REDIII–compliant certification and carbon-management systems to align with emerging European removal standards. The company has secured long-term contracted arrangements for supply and offtake to provide revenue visibility during commercial scale-up.
