Overview

Jama Software provides the Jama Product Development Platform, an integrated solution that guides the product lifecycle from idea to launch and enables a Predictive Product Development process. The platform is designed to mitigate risk, improve quality, identify opportunities and decrease time to market for complex product and systems development. More than 600 companies, including Wells Fargo, NASA Kennedy Space Center, Qualcomm, Eli Lilly, Roche, Canon, Caterpillar and Jabra, use Jama Software. The company is led by CEO Scott Roth. Jama intends to use new capital to speed its product roadmap and support ongoing global expansion. Recently the company received a significant growth equity investment, reflecting its current fundraising activity. Jama Software provides a cloud-based product delivery solution with integrated test management and actionable collaboration for R&D and product teams. Led by co-founder and CEO Eric Winquist, the company targets Global 1,000 companies bringing complex products to market. Customers named in the article include SpaceX, the Department of Defense, VW, Time Warner, GE, UnitedHealthcare and Amazon.com. The company raised $20M in this round and has now raised a total of $33M to date. Jama intends to use the funds to bring industry-specific features to market for manufacturers in safety-critical industries. As part of the financing, two investors’ principals joined the board. Jama Software offers a SaaS-based platform that ties together requirements, procedures, and documents to help teams accelerate product development and collaborate in real time. The platform centralizes documents, aims to replace email and ad-hoc social tools, and notifies team members when things change. It also connects product teams with other functions—such as sales and marketing—so non-product teams gain visibility into upcoming launches. The company serves about 600 customers, including dozens in the Fortune 100. After six years without institutional funding, Jama raised $13 million led by Trinity Ventures with participation from Madrona Venture Group; Trinity GP Karan Mehandru joined the board. The new capital will be used to expand headcount, enter new markets in Europe and Asia, and grow sales, marketing, and sales support teams.
