JamStar
Jerusalem, Yerushalayim, Israel
Overview
JamStar is a guitar-teaching app that listens to a player’s strums and chords and provides real-time feedback using polyphonic algorithms. The app runs on Android, iOS and in the browser, and detects both chords and plucks with low latency. Lessons range from basic chord progressions to more complex folk and rock songs, and the company sells tailored lesson packs (Rock/Pop, Jazz/Blues, etc.). JamStar has partnered with music publisher Alfred to license hit catalogs and with Dean Guitars to create signature lessons. The app was built by Kobi Stok and his team at an Israeli programming house; Stok is a gigging musician in Tel Aviv. The company has raised seed funding and monetizes through paid lesson content and curated instructional material.
