Jasper
169 Jean-Talon West, Montreal, H2R 2X2
Overview
Jasper developed robotics and machine-learning technologies to automate cooking processes and has pivoted from a B2B approach to a direct-to-consumer “cooking as a service” model. The company runs robotic kitchens in or next to residential high-rises, charging residents a subscription fee plus ingredient costs and plating meals on porcelain to reduce household waste. Its menu spans a wide range of items (priced roughly $1.20 to $16.90) and the platform uses ML for task scheduling and ingredient dispensing, with plans to add personalization akin to a "personal chef." Jasper ran multiple trials in a mid-rise building, recently launched in six apartment buildings, and to date about 231 customers have ordered via its platform. The startup has a current ARR of less than $100,000 and is targeting $2.5 million in ARR as it prepares to raise additional capital. Jasper employs 13 people (expected to rise to 15) and says planned funding will increase automation and improve revenue per man-hour to $167.
