Overview
JD Finance operates a broad fintech and digital-technology business spanning nine lines including supply-chain finance, consumer finance, crowdfunding, wealth management, payments, insurance, securities, rural finance and financial technology. It serves more than 700 financial institutions and, jointly with partners, reaches roughly 8 million online/offline micro-merchants and 400 million individual users. The company reported over ¥10 billion in cumulative revenue and achieved single-quarter profitability as of the article. In May 2018 it reorganized into separate consumer (To C) and enterprise (To B) business groups and was spun out of JD Group in mid-2017. JD Finance holds licenses for factoring, micro-loans, third-party payments, fund sales and insurance brokerage, while lacking key licenses such as banking, securities and personal credit. The firm says it will focus investment on data and technology, expand globally, and recruit leading technology talent while avoiding businesses unrelated to data and technology.
