Jetpack.io develops tooling to reduce the complexity of deploying and running developer environments, starting with Devbox, an open-source development environment based on Nix. The company recently launched Devbox Cloud in beta, a cloud version of the open-source project that moves environments from local machines to the cloud. Jetpack took a modular approach after initially exploring an end-to-end platform and has also released Launchpad to simplify Kubernetes deployment, with a cloud version planned. Founder Daniel Loreto draws on engineering experience from Google, Airbnb, Twitter and running engineering at Virta Health, and frames the product as treating infrastructure as a self-serve product. The startup is keeping a lean team (about 10 employees) and says future expansion will be guided by customer feedback and disciplined spending. Financially, Jetpack announced a $10 million seed round that closed a year ago and was previously unannounced.
