Jink
Troy, Michigan, United States
Overview
Jink is a mobile location-sharing app built by Taipei and San Francisco–based Greenhouse Apps that aims to make sharing your location as easy as texting or calling. Users sign up with their mobile number, can grant access to contacts or enter numbers manually, and appear as geotags on a map without entering addresses. The app overlays messages as bubbles on the map so users don’t have to switch windows while coordinating meetups. A key differentiator is automatic power- and privacy-saving behavior: Jink switches off once two people meet and supports automatic pausing and expiration of shares, plus group-visibility controls. Greenhouse is prioritizing product and user growth, planning backend speed improvements and enhancements to Jink’s messaging feature, and considering monetization such as selling profile stickers, location-based advertising, or logistics. The startup has raised $300,000 in seed funding and is currently looking for a Series A; Jink has also gained traction from being featured in Apple’s App Store.
