Joota's parent, Kuala Lumpur-based Joot Ventures Sdn Bhd, raised $700K in funding. Backers included Interactive E Solutions JLT of Dubai, which committed $500K, and an individual angel investor who committed $200K. The company intends to use the funds for product development and expansion of its global marketing and promotional efforts. Joota helps users build meaningful social networks around content and socialize around images, videos and text, and it features a bookmarklet that helps users collect content from the Internet. The product is built with integration in mind, allowing users to share curated content on social networks and embed "joots" on blogs and websites. Led by co-founder and COO Mr. Ashran Ghazi, the company had previously raised approximately $1.6M from various other investment sources.
