Joshin

855 Village Center Drive #304, Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55127, United States

Overview

Joshin operates a digital care platform that creates individualized care plans and matches families with carefully vetted, trained caregivers for people with complex health and developmental needs. The product has evolved to include a corporate benefits program that partners with employers to offer inclusive care benefits to employees. Founders Melanie Fountaine and Melissa Danielsen built the company after running Josh’s Place, which was acquired by REM Minnesota in early 2020. Over the past 12 months Joshin's community of members and caregivers has grown 200%. The company plans to use new capital to grow its network of care providers, expand its corporate benefits program, scale its technology, and launch in new markets including Los Angeles and Seattle. It is currently operational in Minneapolis (its home base), Chicago and New York City, and will soft launch in eight new markets while pursuing partnerships with managed Medicaid organizations and private and public insurers. Joshin is a technology company focused on special needs and disability care that operates a caregiving app connecting families to experienced, screened caregivers. Led by CEO Melissa Danielsen, the product is available in Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Chicago and San Francisco. The company has expanded its Self-Directed Medicaid services to all of these markets, allowing qualifying families to use Medicaid to pay caregivers they hire through the app. Families pay a monthly fee to Joshin while using Self-Directed Medicaid to compensate caregivers directly. Joshin plans to use the new capital to continue expansion into new markets including Austin, Houston, and Dallas over the next year, further develop its product, and broaden its executive team. The company also added Michael Kutcher as a strategic advisor to support its work in the disability community.
