Journal Lab (formerly Travel Diaries) provides a digital diary editor for travellers to document trips with extended text and photos and offers printed keepsake books. After identifying hosting cost challenges and changing demand patterns, the company pivoted its revenue model during the COVID-19 pandemic to three subscription plans. Since inception in 2014 the platform has amassed 120,000 users and currently reports 2,500 paying users with a 70% renewal rate after the first year. Nearly half of subscribers opt to order a printed book. The founder plans product expansion into Baby Diaries, recipe books, and a general diary app, and will target English-speaking markets for growth. The recent investment will be used to fund marketing efforts to accelerate international expansion beyond the Netherlands.
