June.ai builds an email platform that separates conversational messages from informational emails, presenting informational messages in an easy-to-browse feed and conversations in an iMessage-like inbox organized by person. The product also organizes files by sender and includes a “gatekeeper” feature to quickly unsubscribe, approve, or block new senders. June designed the platform to be backwards compatible with major email providers and works with Gmail, Yahoo!, and Outlook. With $1.5 million in funding, the company is prioritizing user acquisition and adoption over near-term revenue. Co-founder and CEO Allie Sutton says the biggest challenge will be convincing users to change entrenched email-processing habits and proving the system is more efficient. The company’s immediate plans focus on spreading the word about the platform and promoting adoption among users.
