June Energy monitors users' energy consumption 24/7 using smart meter readers and automatically switches households to more cost-efficient power suppliers. Its core product targets private households and SMEs, and the company plans to expand its SME offering to allow monitoring of multiple locations. Founded in 2016 in Antwerp, the startup makes frequent supplier switches similar to the approach used by Tibber. June plans to become more involved in the sustainable energy transition by using its consumption data to calculate customers' needs for alternative energy sources such as solar panels and to monitor their performance. The company says its algorithms will estimate how much energy can be stored and potentially resold, enabling customers to not only lower bills but earn money. Later this year June Energy plans to offer customers solar panels through partnerships with installation companies; it has raised €2.1 million from a group of angel investors to fund product development.
