Kaaj

San Francisco, CA, United States

Overview

Founded in 2024 by credit-risk veteran Shivi Sharma and technologist Utsav Shah, Kaaj uses agentic AI workflows to shrink the underwriting process for small-business loans from days to minutes. The software identifies, classifies, verifies and organizes borrower documents, flags potential fraud, and pipes the data directly into lenders’ Loan Origination Systems while integrating with CRMs such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics. By automating the entire credit analysis, Kaaj claims a single underwriting team can scale from handling 500 to 20,000 applications per month, making sub-$100k loans economically viable for banks. To date, the platform has processed over $5 billion in loan applications for customers including Amur Equipment Finance and Fundr. Competing with firms like Middesk, Ocrolus and MoneyThumb, Kaaj differentiates itself by covering the full end-to-end underwriting workflow. The company plans to use new capital to deepen its AI agent capabilities, add new product modules and broaden its footprint among independent and small-business lenders.
