Kanbox provides cloud storage and file-sharing across multiple locations and devices, with mobile access and a dedicated Android app. Launched in January 2011, it also targets businesses and offers an open API for integration. Over the past nine months the service grew to more than five million users and was on track to reach eight million registered users by year-end. CEO Tomy Gu described the cloud ecosystem as a key growth area in China and expressed optimism about future growth. The company plans to focus on China for the next year or two before expanding to other markets. Kanbox recently raised funding to support product development, marketing, and userbase expansion.
