Karbikes
9 rue de la Gare, Hangenbieten, 67980, France
Overview
Based near Strasbourg, Karbikes builds electrically assisted, body-shelled bicycles that feature doors, a windshield and a roof, giving them the look and weather protection of a micro-car while remaining license-free. All models use Valeo’s Cyclee motor with automatic gearing that delivers up to 130 Nm of torque and pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. The base 630 Wh battery provides about 40 km of range, with optional 1 240 Wh and 2 480 Wh packs extending range to 80 km and 160 km respectively. Units are priced from €10 990 and can be reserved online with a €500 deposit. With the fresh capital, the company plans to establish a small factory in Alsace, hire two additional employees to augment its five-person team, and produce 50 vehicles by spring and 150 units in total by the end of 2026. Prior to the current fundraising, Karbikes had secured €300 000 in public grants from programs such as France 2030, Bpifrance, ADEME and Région Grand Est. The company ultimately targets raising €1.5 million by the end of 2025 through an upcoming crowdfunding campaign open to retail investors.
