Overview

Karma Primary Healthcare is an online platform that delivers primary health services remotely, including assisted telemedicine, remote doctor consultations, and remote patient monitoring for rural villages and clinics. A community health worker at partner clinics takes vitals, facilitates video consultations, prints electronic prescriptions and dispenses free medications. The company was co-founded in 2014 by Jagdeep, Gagandeep, and Manjeet Singh Gambhir and now operates in eight Indian states. Karma says it has impacted over 350,000 lives to date, 55% of whom are women, and that patient volumes have tripled in the last three years. By 2027 the company aims to operate 100 locations and serve more than 150,000 patients annually as it shifts toward a patient-centered care model. Revenue declined from Rs 5.18 crore in FY22 to Rs 4.79 crore in FY23 (a 7.5% drop) and the company swung from a Rs 10.20 lakh profit to a Rs 3.21 crore loss in FY23. Karma faces competition from players such as DocOnline and Practo. Founded in 2014, Karma Healthcare sets up Karma Clinics in rural areas that provide web‑enabled patient‑doctor video consultations, face‑to‑face doctor visits and medicines, staffed by a community health worker. Each clinic serves roughly 20,000–25,000 people and is equipped with an Android tablet with an in‑built webcam, mobile internet, wireless printer, external speaker and other clinical equipment to process and print e‑prescriptions. The company currently operates in Rajasthan and Haryana, runs 10 e‑doctor clinics and reports having conducted over 50,000 consultations. Karma raised Rs 3 crore (about $500,000) in a fresh equity round from equity crowdfunding platform 1Crowd, with existing investors Ankur Capital, Ennovent Capital, Beyond Capital and undisclosed angels participating. The company said it will use the funds to scale operations and beef up its technology offering to improve the quality of its healthcare services. Karma previously raised funding in 2015 from Impact Investment Holding, the impact investment arm of Ennovent.
