Kate is a French carmaker focused on electric micro-cars for everyday use. The company currently offers a leisure vehicle called the Original and acquired NoSmoke to reuse parts and manufacturing processes. It is developing the K1, a four-seat lightweight electric vehicle aimed at suburban and rural drivers for short to medium trips. The K1 is designed with a top speed of 90 km/h and an entry-level battery range of about 200 km. Kate positions the K1 as a smaller, cheaper, and easier-to-maintain alternative to regular cars rather than a solution for long-distance travel or dense urban transit. The company raised $7.6 million from business angels to fund development and plans to unveil the K1 in Q3 2023.
