Katoo provides a platform that digitizes and streamlines the old‑school food supply industry, replacing fax, paper and voice messages with software to facilitate communication between restaurants and suppliers. The product focuses on eliminating manual data entry through ERP integrations and on integrating with popular PoS systems to predict restaurants’ stock needs. Katoo is also building financial products to address cash‑flow issues, including simplified and centralized payments, payment reconciliation, and financing. The company has seen orders grow 8x over the past nine months and serves over 5,000 restaurants and suppliers, ranging from large chains to high‑end and Michelin‑starred venues. Katoo processes close to €190 million in annualized transactions across Italy and Spain. The startup plans to use new funding to keep developing the product, launch in Portugal, and prepare expansion into Latin America and other European markets. Katoo offers a simple mobile app that connects restaurants with their suppliers to accelerate digitization of the hospitality sector. The company has built a network of more than 3,000 restaurants and suppliers placing and receiving orders through its platform in Spain, Italy and Portugal. Katoo launched its product about a year before reporting these metrics and highlights that 99% of restaurant professionals still order via phone, email, WhatsApp or fax. Since the COVID pandemic began the average number of restaurant orders on the platform has declined from about 12 per week to about 8 per week, prompting Katoo to add analytical tools to help clients reduce costs. The team plans to invest in new functionalities and add more intelligence to predict optimal stock levels based on historical orders and offer standard interfaces such as EDI. Founders Diogo Cunha, Karan Anand and Carlos Esquivel previously worked at firms including Boston Consulting Group, Uber and SGS.
