Overview

Kebotix operates a platform that combines AI, machine learning and robotic automation to accelerate discovery of chemicals and materials significantly faster and more affordably. The company says it operates the world’s first self-driving lab for materials discovery and provides end-to-end digital R&D solutions and innovation programs to partners. Kebotix is focused on applications that address public health, sustainability and Green Chemistry by eliminating hazardous substances and increasing innovation rates at reduced costs. Its platform has delivered notable experimental speedups and cost reductions in partnerships with public and private organizations. For example, a collaboration with the NIH’s NCATS reduced experimental time from 49 hours to 9 hours, and work for Koura produced high-performance, environmentally friendly materials in 3 months versus the typical 3-plus years while cutting costs by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Kebotix launched in late 2018 and is led by a team of scientists and serial entrepreneurs. Kebotix has developed a self-driving lab that combines AI decision-making with laboratory robotic platforms to accelerate materials and molecular discovery. The company says its system—an AI and robotics reiterative closed loop—processes large amounts of molecular data to discover new materials or generate formulations with target properties. Kebotix positions its technology as the world’s first and largest AI brain for chemistry and materials, aiming to compress research cycles from years or decades to months. The team, founded by researchers from Harvard, intends to apply the platform to problems including climate change, antibiotic resistance and water pollution and to scale materials innovation and production. Kebotix emerged from stealth and announced a $5 million seed financing to support development and commercialization. Founders and leaders named in the company materials include Jill S. Becker, Alán Aspuru‑Guzik, Christoph Kreisbeck, Dennis Sheberla and Semion Saikin.
