Keen Games is developing the spiritual successor to Portal Knights, which previously sold over 3.5 million copies. The studio is building an open-world, multiplayer sandbox action RPG using its own voxel-based engine and targeting PC and consoles. The team is led by industry veterans and is expanding headcount, actively hiring for multiple positions. The company says the funding will enable it to retain creative and publishing independence and transition to self-publishing. The title is scheduled for 2023. Keen is one of the leading independent game developers in Germany and is Frankfurt-based.
